The complex, multi-step process of creating painted enamels has been known in Russia from the beginning of the past century.
Jewellers from the "Rostovskaya Finift'" factory have produced multiple sets of brooches in the forms of the main mythical creatures of the Russian Northern region: birds and wolves. Metallic plates are hand-painted to resemble cross-stitched patterns and framed in silver and gold-plated filigree trim, a technique traditionally employed in the creation of Rostov finift' pieces.
All of the designs were developed in the Ulyana Sergeenko design bureau in collaboration with the enamel artists at the factory. Buttons in the collection's colour palette were also produced and now decorate silk dresses and wool jackets.
